Board Member
John Chomeau has served on the New Horizons for Children Board since 2019, bringing extensive healthcare, executive, strategic, and governance experience. His connection to NHFC is also personal. He joined the Board in part to honor his mother’s experience as a conflict and war refugee, which shared his understanding of the impact displacement and instability can have on families.
Professionally, John has spent more than 15 years in senior healthcare leadership, guiding both early-stage companies and large divisions within Fortune 50 organizations. His roles have included full profit-and-loss responsibility for organizations with revenues of up to $8.3 billion, along with accountability for Medicare and Medicaid contracts across multiple states.
Most recently, John served as Chief Population Health Officer of Lee Health, a $2 billion hospital system, where he helped lead the organization’s strategic transition to value-based care. His work included launching a NextGen ACO, helping secure a direct Medicaid contract with the State of Florida, and establishing a clinically
integrated network of more than 4,000 physicians. He also played a senior role in enterprise strategic planning, working closely with the CEO and Board of Directors to guide organizational priorities and performance.
Previously, John served as President of Magellan Behavioral Health, where he led commercial, Medicare, Medicaid, and federal practice segments and helped advance the use of digital cognitive behavioral health therapy in the United States. He also served as President and Chief Operating Officer of Aetna’s Medicare division, where he led significant business growth and operational improvement, worked with CMS to resolve regulatory sanctions, and strengthened fraud detection and management across Medicare Advantage and Part D.
John is recognized for his expertise in population health, healthcare policy, and organizational transformation. He earned a Master of Science in Population Health with distinction from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health and is frequently called upon to advise Boards and executive leaders on value-based care and operational change.
John serves as Chairman of the Radford University Foundation, is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives, and is a published author. He and his wife live in North Carolina and remain connected to Grace Church in Eden Prairie, Minnesota.
